Welcome to Friends of York Hospitals

The Friends of York Hospitals is a registered Charity, founded in 1953.

It has two aims:

To raise money for the hospital, buying equipment that cannot be funded centrally.

To provide volunteers that help patients and support the staff.

The following pages describe the work of the volunteer teams, and list some of the equipment that the Friends of York Hospitals have donated to the Hospital.

What's in it for you as a volunteer?

You will be valued and feel part of the community.
You will learn to look outside yourself, and to hear about other peoples lives.
It may help to give you confidence and the ability to communicate with others.
You may be taking part in an award scheme, where voluntary work is a requirement.
You may be considering a career in medicine and want to get some experience of the hospital.
Whatever your reasons, if you decide to volunteer for the Friends of York Hospitals, we will try to help you enjoy it and get satisfaction from the effort you put in.
